SAMPLE SCHEDULE

(0:00 - 0:05) ARRIVAL AND TEAM HUDDLE

Athletes check in, put away backpacks, and gather for the opening huddle. The coach introduces the day's sport focus and the Character Trait of the Week with a quick story or discussion question that gets kids thinking.

(0:05 - 0:10) DYNAMIC WARM UP

A guided warm-up that raises heart rates, activates muscles, and gets everyone moving together. The coach leads the group through a consistent routine so athletes learn how to properly prepare their bodies for training.

(0:10 - 0:30) CIRCUIT TRAINING SESSIONS

Athletes rotate through exercise stations in small groups, building speed, strength, agility, and body control. Stations change weekly to keep things fresh. Coaches encourage effort and celebrate improvement over perfection.

(0:30 - 0:45) TEAM GAMES

The highlight of every session! Coach-led games disguise serious athletic training as pure fun. Kids build speed, reaction time, agility, and teamwork without even realizing they're working out. Every game is designed so all kids are active and involved, not standing in line waiting.

(0:45 - 0:55) COOL DOWN AND STRETCH

Athletes get water and bring their heart rates down with guided stretching and breathing. The coach leads a calm, focused cool-down that teaches kids the importance of recovery and taking care of their bodies after exercise.

(0:55 - 0:60) TEAM SEND-OFF

Every athlete leaves feeling like they belong, as part of the Varsity Jr. team. The session closes with energy, celebration, and connection, so kids walk away proud, motivated, and already looking forward to next week.

why Athletic development

vs. sport specific?

Success in any sport begins with speed, strength, coordination, and character.

Varsity Jr. builds these foundations through age-appropriate programming, helping athletes improve performance, reduce injury risk, and develop confidence in how they move.

Rather than pushing early specialization—which research links to higher injury rates and burnout—we focus on developing well-rounded athletes. By strengthening fundamental movement patterns across multiple sports, kids build skills that translate no matter what sport they choose to pursue.
